Council has begun works on the first registered blue carbon farming trial in Australia on the banks of the Maroochy River.

Blue Carbon Farming is coming to the Sunshine Coast in an Australian first. So what is blue carbon farming and how does it benefit the community, environment and landholders in our Blue Heart?

Sunshine Coast Council has secured 120ha of land in the Blue Heart for restoration and conservation of wetlands for habitat, a healthier Maroochy River and a place to connect to nature.

A major future sporting and recreation precinct for the Sunshine Coast is a step closer to reality, after Sunshine Coast Council acquired another large parcel of land for the long-term project.
